Nonprofits, by their very nature, exist for the sole purpose of fulfilling some vital mission. This mission can be anything people find worthwhile – just look around – there are nonprofits out there striving to do good works in as many ways as you can imagine. There are even quite a few doing the very same thing. That’s how big some problems are in society. They require more than one answer. That’s why You Are A Star NFP was founded for just such a purpose – tackling underserved children’s needs – specifically children of color.

When Will Crutcher had his famous dream, the dream that started StarDreamers, it stood out so profoundly to him for one very real, very sad reason – there was nothing of its kind anywhere in Chicago. What a sad commentary on the state of affairs within our fair city – that a man should awaken from a dream so convinced that this would be his calling. Why? That’s simple. If he didn’t do it, then who on earth would? Thus, You Are A Star NFP was born. First, he wrote his dream in book form and soon realized that the first chapter would, and should, be adapted for the stage. This is the foundation, this first chapter based on a dream, for all of the work that we do for underserved children of color.

In order to keep delivering our message of hope and empowerment to the children of Chicago, and one day beyond, we need every bit of support we can get from the good people of Chicago, Illinois, and the world. Each and every donation we receive goes to better our productions, clarify our messaging, and further our reach within the city’s schools and churches. Aside from minor administrative costs, every dollar we receive goes directly to fuel the aspirations of children of color throughout the Chicagoland area.
