The programs we provide for children of color are all predicated on a dream our founder had many years ago. In that dream, he saw children of color magically transported to a land called YesYouCan where they were tasked with saving the good dreams of the children of the universe.

This fantastic story became the bedrock on which the StarDreamers effort was built. All of our stage shows derive their core message from that dream – even today – and we’re constantly looking for new and exciting tales to share with the children. The only requirement is that they empower children of color and explore the ways in which they are every bit as important and precious as other children of the world.

Our organizational philosophy is based off of the belief that a staged production, with real-life actors, can reach children in ways other mediums simply can’t match. There is a level of interaction and interconnectedness that comes from the experience of communal learning – especially when the lesson is something of interest to the children.

We’ve found plays to be a fantastic way to deliver our positive message while giving children a visual representation to go along with the story. It’s an enjoyable experience for the children, who actively participate in the production, as well as for us. In fact, we may have almost as much fun as they do. That’s what happens when you do what you love – another message we pass on to the audience.
