You Are A Star NFP is primarily a stage production company. We go into schools and churches around Chicago and use our storytelling to empower young children through interactive entertainment – all about people who look like they do. It’s a powerful way to influence children and promote positive feelings about who they are and where they come from. It’s all about showing children a whole new world where anything they dream is possible and then convincing them, with word and deed, that that world is this one – the real one they live in each day. It’s a worthwhile mission that gives back as much as you put in and we’d love to have you come out and participate.
Volunteers are everything to a nonprofit like us. They literally make it all possible, but, what’s more than that, they energize us when the hours get long and the task seems endless. We’ll never give in, that’s a fact, but new faces and fresh spirits are always welcome at You Are A Star NFP. We call them Ebony Ones and they, these wonderful souls, give of themselves in so many ways and, thankfully, they’re always willing to try new things with us. We use volunteers in a wide variety of roles – depending on the volunteer’s skills and particular interests. If you’d like to be onstage, we’d love to help you get there in one of our productions. If you enjoy video production, we could always use a videographer or two. We also aks our volunteers to help us set up and breakdown our set pieces and do minor maintenance work on our props. It takes a village, after all, so the more villagers we have the better!
If you’d like to try your hand at being a part of our giving team, then all you have to do is call our Volunteer Coordinator, Barbara Wahler, or send a message with your contact information and we’ll reach out to you as soon as we can. We’re always looking for talented, motivated people to boost the ranks and we think you’ll get just as much out of the experience as the children do. It’s all for the betterment of children, which is a truly pure mission, and it’s a perfect way to get into the community and be a real part of something greater than yourself. Plus, you’ll see a million smiles and know you put them there. What could be better than that?
